Who are we?

Avivia is a pharmaceutical R&D service company, specializing in innovative pharmaceutical formulation development and characterization. We are looking for a formulation scientist/product developer (Chemist) to join our international, highly skilled team in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. As part of the Avivia team, you will have the opportunity to make an impact within a growing scale-up and to develop new skills not only in analytical chemistry but also in pharmaceutical formulation development.

As a Formulation Development Specialist, you are a key member of the R&D team. Your role is to develop and prepare pharmaceutical formulations to support the development of products for our customers. You will work together with the R&D team and the customer to solve a variety of formulation challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimize pharmaceutical formulations including selection of appropriate excipients and processing methods.
• Develop (new) technologies, e.g. release controlled single dosage / pellet technology.
• Perform pre-formulation studies and stability testing.
• Provide and discuss test data and observations directly with the R&D Team. Based on your input, the next step in formulation development will be made.
• Assist in the scale-up of formulations from lab scale to pilot scale.
• Prepare technical documentation for technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Maintenance of R&D equipment and systems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team player with a sharp mind, flexible attitude and entrepreneurial spirit, who can contribute to our mission:

• You have an education in pharmacy or chemistry (Bachelors/Masters/PhD).
• You have knowledge about drug development, chemistry.
• Several years of experience in a similar role is an advantage.
• You enjoy working in the lab.
• You recognize yourself in a “can-do” mentality; You pick things up and run with them.
• You are self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• You are able to translate goals into a feasible plan of action.
• Good communication skills in spoken and written English (Dutch is a pre).
